Belly River Newfoundlands was founded in 2011 when our first Newfoundland, Shadow, joined our family.
From that moment on our family was hooked on the breed, and thought this amazing breed needed to be shared with others. We have learned SO much in this short amount of time and have met so many wonderful people on this journey, we cannot say enough about how much we love what we do.
In the summer of 2014 we sold our acreage on the Belly River and decided to build our forever home with our Newfies in mind. Needless to say they got spoiled! We built our home and facility on 200 acres of land were we get to take the dogs swimming regularly at their very own lake. We have built our kennel structure so that each of our dogs have their own personal kennel with heated floors in the winter and it stays very cool for the summer months. We have a large fenced acreage where they can safely play and roam freely. All of our dogs are well socialized and spend most of their days out on the farm with our family…from truck rides, tubing with us down the river, checking cows, swimming in the lake, skating, tobogganing, playing with our kids in the yard, or just laying in the shop while we work on hobbies…it doesn’t matter what we are doing, they love tagging along beside us!
We plan one breeding a year to arrive between spring and fall, with the occasional winter litter if we are feeling up for the task! All of our puppies are raised in a clean, safe and loving environment from the moment they are born, and get TONS of play time. They are introduced to new things often, so they are comfortable with many environments. We do water play-time (in the summer months) as well as helping them grow accustomed to bathing and grooming. Our puppies are registered with the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club ), and are Vet checked, microchipped, dewormed, have their first vaccinations before going to their forever PET home (no earlier than 8 weeks), and come with life-time support from us.
If you’ve been thinking about bringing a Newfoundland dog into your life, we’d love to talk with you about the breed, our dogs, and if Newfies are a good fit for you.
